On the afternoon of 30th December, the award ceremony for the 2024 Wenrui Education Award of the Law School of Southeast University was held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Law School. Ninghai, Lu Suwen, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education and a member of the General Party Branch of Southeast University, Mao Huixi, Chairman of the Working Committee for the Concern for the Next Generation of the Faculty of Law and Head of the Guangdong Admission Team, Wang Jinyuan, Special Advisor for Scientific Research of the Faculty of Law, and Liu Qichuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Law, were present at the award ceremony and delivered speeches, which was presided over by Chen Yun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Law and Deputy Dean of the Faculty.

I. Speech

At the beginning of the ceremony, Liu Qichuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School, delivered a speech. First of all, Liu greeted the leaders, teachers and students, and expressed his gratitude to them for their deep concern and support to the Law School of Southeast University.

Liu Qichuan explained that the word ‘Wen’ and ‘Rui’ in the ‘Wen Rui Nurturing Award’ is taken from the philosophy and fine tradition of the School, especially from the former Dean of the School of Law Liu Yanhong's pioneering idea of the ‘Wen Rui Nurturing Award’. Dean Liu Yanhong pioneered the concept of ‘temperature and sharpness’. Under her guidance, Southeastern law students have taken the mission of inheriting the spirit of ‘stopping at the best’ as their responsibility, and based on the development experience of the School of Law, they have moulded and constructed the culture system of the School which has both temperature and sharpness under the supervision of ‘stopping at the best’. In the past year, teachers and students of the School implemented the concept of temperature and sharpness in teaching, scientific research, student management and other aspects, and promoted the work to achieve good results: student management tends to be democratised and scientific; various types of awards to motivate the teachers and students to benchmark the advanced, and continue to strive for progress; and from time to time, the School's official website displays the good results of scientific research and teaching is even more remarkable. These remarkable achievements are not only cohesive with the careful care of the leaders, but also full of the hard work of all teachers and students.

Minister Qu Xu spoke highly of the outstanding achievements of the Law School in student work and emphasised that this is inseparable from the concept of ‘warm and sharp’. Under the cultivation of the college culture of ‘temperature and sharpness’, teachers and students have shown the spirit of enterprising and positive, and have achieved excellent results. He hoped that the Law School would continue to strive for excellence.

Teng Hang, Deputy Secretary General, said that the Law School has always been in the forefront of the university in terms of student work, which is mainly attributed to the strong support and unremitting efforts of the leadership of the School. This time, the scope of the awards has been expanded compared with the past, which not only shows the deep humanistic care of the Law School, but also is a kind of affirmation and feedback to the hard work of teachers and students. He expects that the ‘Wenrui Educator Award’ of the Law School will continue and get better and better.

Award Presentation

Minister Qu Xu awarded the ‘Young Teachers’ Counsellor Award‘ and “Class Teacher Award” to the winning representatives of young teachers’ counsellors and class teachers' pacesetters.

Secretary Liu Qichuan awarded ‘Pioneer Award of Party Building of Staff Branch’ and ‘Leader Award of Party Building of Staff Branch’ to the staff branch. 26th December, the academy held a duty evaluation assessment of the secretary of the staff branch, and according to the assessment scores, awarded the award to the international law and jurisprudence branch, the administrative staff branch and the administrative staff branch. Based on the evaluation scores, the Party Branch of International Law and Jurisprudence Teaching Staff and the Party Branch of Administrative Teaching Staff were awarded the ‘Pioneer Award of Party Building of Teaching Staff Branch’, and the Party Branch of Civil and Commercial Teaching Staff, the Party Branch of Constitutional Law Teaching Staff and the Party Branch of Criminal Law Teaching Staff were awarded the ‘Leader Award of Party Building of Teaching Staff Branch’.

Deputy Secretary-General Teng Hang and Section Chief Wang Lulu presented the ‘Wenrui Service Excellence Award’, ‘Wenrui Service Outstanding Contribution Award’ and ‘Wenrui Service Special Dedication Award’ to the winning representatives of Wenrui Service Team. The award was presented by Mr Wang Lulu to the representatives of the winning service team of Wenrui.

Section Chief Wang Lulu presented ‘Outstanding Contribution to Undergraduate Teaching Award’, ‘Special Contribution to Undergraduate Teaching Award’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Teaching Award’ to the representatives of the teachers who have made outstanding contribution and special dedication to the teaching of this research. ‘.

III. Speaking Sessions

1. Speech of Awarded Representatives

In the speech of the award-winning representatives, Mr Mao Huixi said that the success of the Guangdong recruitment work in 2024 could not be achieved without the strong support and deep care of the School of Law. The School of Law has a high degree and depth of student work, and fully implements the concept of ‘student first’ of Southeast University, and is always in the forefront of cultivating leading talents. Looking ahead, the School of Law will continue to write brilliant chapters.

Mr Wang Jinyuan said that the establishment of ‘Wenrui Education Award’ is of far-reaching significance as it pays special attention to the care of students. This year, the School of Law has made remarkable achievements in scientific research and application for fund projects, and in the future, it should further encourage qualified students to actively apply for all kinds of projects and awards, so as to motivate students to continue to study and strive for all-round development.

Section Chief Wang Ninghai spoke highly of the safety and security work of the Law School. He pointed out that the School of Law has done an excellent job in maintaining campus safety and protecting students' well-being, which not only creates a worry-free learning and living environment for students, but also improves the overall image of the School of Law, and its successful experience is worth promoting and learning.

Ms. Lu Suwen mentioned that the Law School has always been supportive and enthusiastic about sports activities, and has actively organised and participated in various sports activities. As the first sports club organised by the faculty, the Law School Wenrui Running Club is becoming more and more influential. She expects to take this award as an opportunity to further promote the development of sports in the School of Law and make more significant contributions to the sports of the College.

Mr Dong Guozhen, as the winning representative of the Wenrui Service Team, made a speech in which he put forward one point of emotion, two points of emotion, and three points of gratitude to express his deep appreciation to the leaders of the College, colleagues of the administrative team, as well as the staff and teachers, and Mr Dong concluded his speech with a statement that he would continue to lead the Wenrui Service Team, fully cooperate with the leaders of the College, and do a good job of providing services and guarantees to ensure that the team achieves the results it deserves.

Teacher Zhang Yue said that the excellent class teacher standard-bearer of this honour is not only a heavy affirmation, but also a strong impetus on the way forward, behind this honour, cohesion of the school and the leadership of the College for a long time support, meticulous care and unreserved recognition, she is willing to continue to contribute to the family of the School of Law, to cultivate more foreign rule of law talents, but also look forward to the students to show in the future on the field! She is willing to continue to contribute to the cultivation of more talents in foreign-related rule of law, and expects students to show their elegance in the future competitions.

Mr Wei Wensong stressed the importance of the codification work in his speech, he pointed out that the smooth implementation of this work is inseparable from the leadership of the College's careful guidance and the concerted efforts of the students in this study, and then we will do our best to continue to improve the codification of the relevant work, to live up to the leadership of the College, the teachers of the earnest expectations.

Jiao Bingjin, a student of Wenrui Running Group of the Law School, expressed his gratitude to the school, the college and all teachers and students for their support to Wenrui Running Group, and said that the achievements made now are inseparable from the guidance of the concept of ‘Wenrui educating people’, and hoped that he could continue to learn and make progress together with all teachers and students in the new year.

Nan Jieyuan, the head of the Legal Aid Centre of the Faculty of Law, firstly expressed his gratitude to the Faculty for actively practicing the concept of ‘Wenrui educating people’ and building a broad platform for students to grow, and summarized his work as a student this year. He said that he would give full play to his leading role in the future student work and contribute to the college's student work.

Section Head Wang Lulu said that attending the Wenrui Nurturing Award Ceremony was a rare learning process for her. She deeply felt that the Law School is solid and attentive in talent cultivation and teaching work, witnessed the teachers' hard work and endeavour, and was touched by the good atmosphere and cohesion of the College, wishing all of us to make continuous progress in study and work.

2. Concluding Remarks

At the end of the activity, Secretary Liu delivered a concluding speech, expressing his sincere gratitude to the people from all walks of life who have given all-round support to the School of Law. In recent years, under the leadership of the College, the Law School has received a lot of successes, especially noteworthy is that the scale and influence of ‘Wenrui Education Award’ has been increasing year by year, which demonstrates the continuous progress of the College's effectiveness in educating people.

Secretary Liu said frankly, the current development of the law school opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, although the alumni are concerned about their alma mater and continue to help, but the college's financial stock is still tight. In this context, the College is clear about the focus of development: to firmly protect the growth of students, fully support the teachers who work in the front line of student training, management and service, so that every investment is accurate and empowering the development of students; to strictly abide by the red line of academic development and incentive funds to ensure that the resources focus on the core priorities. The College is committed to creating a quality environment for teachers and students, helping young teachers to take off, ‘escorting’ their personal development, and providing support to the best of its ability, so that every member of the faculty and staff can work without distraction. Looking ahead to next year, the Faculty of Law has set higher goals, striving to achieve new breakthroughs and new peaks in the core work of discipline construction and talent cultivation. On the teaching front, we will continue to optimise the curriculum system and enrich the teaching methods, so as to create a better knowledge classroom for students; in the field of scientific research, we will encourage teachers and students to concentrate on their research, to achieve higher academic results and to enhance the academic influence of the School; in the face of the students, we will further improve the management mechanism and help the students to grow up in all aspects, so as to strive to achieve more honours and achievements in all key lines, sub-divided fields and organisations of all levels. We will strive to win more honours in all key lines, sub-fields and organisations at all levels!

New Year is approaching, Secretary Liu also sent warm wishes for everyone: may students academic excellence, in the growth of the road ahead; I wish the teachers work smoothly, good health, all the best for the new year. I believe that in the school leadership care and all teachers and students struggle, the law school will be able to overcome the difficulties and create another brilliant.

‘Wenrui educator award’ award ceremony came to a successful conclusion, which is not only the past ploughing of the high light of the frame, but also the law school to forge ahead in a new prelude. On top of the ceremony, honours and applause were intertwined, and the concept of ‘Wenrui educating people’ shone brightly. It turns into a warm power, into every communication, every study of teachers and students, casting the character of the students to play. In the past few years, the School of Law has achieved many successes under the leadership of the predecessors, teachers and students, and its foundation is becoming stable. However, achievements are only the cornerstone. Looking ahead, the School of Law has a heavy responsibility to bear the mission of cultivating the pillars of the rule of law, attacking the frontiers of scientific research, and assisting the rule of law in society. Standing at the new starting point, the College will deeply practice ‘Wenrui educate people’, research teaching, tamping students' professional foundation; deep ploughing scientific research, direct attack on the pain points of the rule of law, giving rise to heavy results; optimise the management, escorting the growth of students. Teachers and students are united in their endeavours. The School of Law will be able to ride the waves forward, draw a new map of education on the rule of law, convey the backbone for the rule of law in China, and let ‘Wenrui Yuren’ shine in the dome of the rule of law.
